Alan Kittner

With experience as a founder and CEO, an investor and board director, and corporate development leader, Alan understands the challenges CEOs, investors and other leaders face.

Before joining FMG Leading, Alan spent many years in venture capital as a Partner with Montgomery Medical Ventures and Invesco Private Capital, a diversified expansion stage fund with $1.3B discretionary capital under management from 2001 – 2008. He also had substantive stints in corporate development working with The Advisory Board Company and advising Evolent Health on behalf of the founding CEO and his team. Although he has a particular interest in healthcare services and information technologies, Alan’s expertise spans additional market segments including medical devices, diagnostics and bio-pharmaceuticals. In his current role as an advisor and executive coach, he focuses on supporting CEOs and other leaders in growth companies.

Alan earned an undergraduate degree, Phi Beta Kappa, in Organizational Behavior from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from Yale School of Management.

Experience

Alan Kittner is a Director at FMG Leading, an advisory firm that creates value at the intersection of enterprise strategy and human capital performance. With experience as a founder and CEO, an investor and board director, and corporate development leader, Alan understands the challenges CEOs, investors and other leaders face.

Before joining FMG Leading, Alan spent many years in venture capital as a Partner with Montgomery Medical Ventures and Invesco Private Capital, a diversified expansion stage fund with $1.3B discretionary capital under management from 2001 – 2008. As one of six General Partners within Invesco Private Capital, he evaluated investments across healthcare, technology and retail industries, was responsible for more than $50M of cumulative healthcare financing and was a voting member of the Investment Committee.

Alan also has had substantive stints in corporate development, working with The Advisory Board Company and advising Evolent Health on behalf of the founding CEO and his team. Although he has a particular interest in healthcare services and information technologies, his expertise spans additional market segments including medical devices, diagnostics and bio-pharmaceuticals. Alan’s healthcare experience also includes work in and around the Senate Health and Welfare Committee and the California State Legislature.

In his current role as an advisor and executive coach, Alan focuses on supporting CEOs in emerging growth healthcare companies but also works with a broader range of leaders and industries. He is passionate about helping leaders navigate the challenges they face in the process of taking something from concept to creation, and ultimately, to drive impact and value. Alan especially enjoys combining his roles as an advisor focused on professional problem solving and as an executive coach, personally supporting and guiding leaders.

Academic Affiliations

Alan earned an undergraduate degree, Phi Beta Kappa, in Organizational Behavior from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from Yale School of Management. He is also an International Coach Federation certified coach.

Personal

Alan lives in Berkeley, California, with his wife and two teenage children. He enjoys hiking, biking, and swimming, along with the beauty of the California coast and Yosemite’s Tuolumne Meadows.
