His network of global professionals serve as high-impact strategy teams to CEOs and senior executives around the world, advising global brands on growth strategies, positioning, branding, and market development.

José graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He went on to earn a Master of Business Administration with a Dean’s Citation from Georgetown University, and a Certificate in European Strategic Management from Oxford University in the United Kingdom.

Having worked in more than 50 countries over the past 20 years, José has successfully led large strategic growth initiatives, partnerships, and teams around the world, delivering world-class results for leading global brands. In addition to his role with FMG Leading, José serves as President and Founder of The Montero Group, an international strategic advisory agency that specializes in growth strategies, market development, positioning, and branding. His network of global professionals serve as high-impact strategy teams to CEOs and senior executives around the world, advising global brands on growth strategies, positioning, branding, and market development.

Prior to founding The Montero Group, José worked for The Coca-Cola Company for nearly 16 years in various capacities around the globe. Most recently, he led corporate M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions) and business development initiatives for Latin America and Europe, including joint ventures/alliances, divestitures, strategic partnerships, and restructuring of corporate assets and portfolios. José spent one year as the Director of Marketing, Sales and International Business Development for Latin America and Europe for the Corporate Executive Board in Washington, D.C. where he was charged with establishing and growing the company’s international practice to further penetrate the leading business communities of the region. José also launched the marketing department for the first privately-held cable TV company in Croatia.

In addition to his corporate experience, José served a 2-year Presidential Appointment as Corporate Transformation Leader and Chief Marketing Officer of U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services in Washington, DC. In this dual role, José led the corporate restructuring of the $2 billion immigration agency as well as the Agency’s business strategy initiatives and oversight of all brand and communications activities.

José’s client roster spans from Fortune 100/IBEX 35 corporations to private and mission-driven organizations across more than 15 industries. His previous clients include GE, Mattel, NCR, Global Power, Discovery, Georgetown University, RBC Capital Markets, and Coca-Cola, among others.

BOARDS AND OTHER PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

José serves as Chairman of Trekking for Kids, Inc., a non-profit, 501 (C) 3, social-impact adventure company which he founded in 2005. Trekking for Kids organizes social impact hiking expeditions around the world to raise funds for needy orphanages and at-risk children in the areas where the treks take place. José has been highlighted as one of the “Top US Hispanic Leaders to Watch” and was also named by the Spanish Government as one of the “Top 15 Young Hispanic Leaders in the US”. José currently serves on the Board of USEC (US Spain Executives Council) and the Board of Advisors for Georgia Tech’s School of Industrial & Systems Engineering.

EDUCATION

José graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He has completed executive education courses from Universidad Menendez-Pelayo (Spain), and both the Wharton Business School and Harvard Business School. PERSONAL

José currently resides in Washington, D.C. When not in the office or with clients, he can be found somewhere outdoors, trekking, biking or sailing.
